Coated Metal Powders for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) Processing: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the last years, functionalized powders are becoming of increasing interest in additive manufacturing (particularly laser powder bed fusion processing, L-PBF), due to their improved flowability and enhanced processability, particularly terms absorbance. Functionalized may also provide higher final mechanical or physical properties manufactured parts, like an increased hardness, a tensile strength, density levels close theoretical. Coatings represent possible interesting approach for powders’ functionalizing. Different coating methods have been studied past either non-mechanical. This work aims present overview currently obtained coated powders, analyzing detail processes adopted production, processability systems, parts by using L-PBF processing.

Laser Penetration in a Powder Bed during Selective Laser Sintering of Metal Powders: Simulations versus Experiments

To gain a better understanding and control of the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) process, more fundamental and modeling work is needed. A simple analytical ray-tracing model has been developed to simulate the energy absorption and penetration in SLS. The model is applied to FeCu and WC-Co powder mixtures, irradiated by Nd-YAG or CO2 laser. It gives an evaluation of the total energy incoupling ...

Some aspects on designing for metal Powder Bed Fusion

Additive Manufacturing (AM) using the Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) is a relatively new manufacturing method that is capable of creating shapes that was previously practically impossible to manufacture. Many think it will revolutionize how manufacturing will be done in the future. This thesis is about some aspects of when and how to Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) when using the PBF method i...

Using Design of Experiments in Finite Element Modeling to Identify Critical Variables for Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Input of accurate material and simulation parameters is critical for accurate predictions in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) Finite Element Analysis (FEA). It is challenging and resource consuming to run experiments that measure and control all possible material properties and process parameters. In this research, we developed a 3-dimensional thermal L-PBF FEA model for a single track laser sca...
